My Work
I qualified as an Arts Therapist (MA Drama and Movement Therapy from Royal Central School of Speech and Drama) in 2006. I have 11 years post-qualifying experience providing, play therapy, creative counselling and psychodynamic therapy for children, young people and adults in schools and other settings. I now run a private practise in Leytonstone.
I offer Play Therapy for children. Younger children may not be able to explain (and may not know) what is bothering them. Play is the natural medium of children and Play Therapy allows for the expression and containment of children's feelings and difficulties, which can be worked through with the therapist in a very safe and age-appropriate way.
For older children and adolescents I offer Creative Therapy sessions. Creative therapy allows young people to talk and reflect on their difficulties while additionally offering creative mediums of expression such as image making, story work and role play.
In addition I offer Family Therapy sessions which the whole family can attend. Sessions have a play or creative focus and are suitable for all ages. I also offer Parent Sessions for the parents of children in therapy with me. Parents and families may attend regular sessions or arrange occasional sessions in addition to their children's treatment. I also recommend parents of younger children attend regular, free, Review Sessions, to discuss the work.
For adults I offer one-to-one psychodynamic therapy sessions with a creative focus. Clients may chose to use sessions for talking and reflecting as in conventional counselling. I also provide the opportunity for creative exploration of issues and feelings. This can allow clients to give shape to unconscious fantasy and thoughts and provide a container for powerful feelings. I also work imaginatively with dreams.
I also offer psychodynamic group therapy, using drama and creativity to explore specific issues and/or social/emotional dynamics.
Reduced fees available for students/low income.
